Angelica SogorManager, Marine Safety & TrainingCarnival Cruise Line

Angelica Sogor began her career in the maritime industry with a focus on the integral aspects of training and development, beginning at Carnival Corporation & plc and then transitioning to the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies-Pacific Maritime Institute (MITAGS-PMI). At MITAGS-PMI, she was responsible for curriculum design, development, and management of technical and non-technical training courses for their East and West Coast campuses. Her role also evolved to include establishment of the institute’s first professional development program for instructors.

Eager to further understand industry training and operational needs, she joined The World, as part of the core vessel management team to develop and implement a new Safety Management System, including training and compliance programs.

In 2019, she joined the Maritime Compliance and Occupational Safety department at Carnival Cruise Line. At Carnival, she has an essential role of implementing and verifying regulatory safety. She creates and manages shipboard emergency response procedures; implements training, drill, and assessment programs; and supports onboard teams during Dry Docks. She is excited to be an active part of the cruise industry's growth and looks forward to the launch of Carnival's newest ship, Mardi Gras.

She holds a B.A. and M.S. in Marine Affairs and Policy from the University of Miami and a M.S. in Education and graduate certificates in Teaching the Adult Learner and Leadership in Technology Integration from Johns Hopkins University.
