Giora IsraelSenior Vice President, Port and Destination Development GroupCarnival Corporation

Giora Israel is a veteran of the hotel, marine parks and cruise industries. Israel began his career as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Tel Aviv Hilton and as a General Manager of hotel resorts in Israel & the Caribbean where he was actively engaged in the development and operation of two of the first marine parks in the Caribbean; In The Bahamas and the US Virgin Islands.

In 1992, he joined Carnival Corporation & plc., the world’s largest leisure travel company, as Director of Special Projects. Israel oversaw a variety of international activities for the company as it expanded operations into Europe and other parts of the world, including a two year assignment in Greece as Senior Vice President of Operations, Sales & Marketing of Epirotiki Cruise Line, a former partner line with Carnival. Upon his return to corporate headquarters in Miami, Giora served as Vice President of Strategic Planning from 1998 through 2008, and in late 2008 he was promoted to his current position as Senior Vice President of Global Port & Destination Development.

Since 1998, Giora has been leading the design and development of Carnival’s most iconic and innovative cruise port projects including: Long Beach Cruise Terminal (California), Cozumel Cruise Terminal (Mexico), Grand Turk Cruise Center (The Turks and Caicos Islands), Mahogany Bay (Roatan, Honduras), Amber Cove (Puerta Plata, Dominican Republic), and the world’s first super cruise terminal HELIX Europe (Barcelona, Spain), since 2018 Giora was involved in Projects in Australia, Japan and Dubai and most recently the start of the development of two iconic new Cruise Destination in The Bahamas. as well as countless other projects around the world.

Giora has also taken a leadership role in the creation and the operation since of the world number one Cruise ship repair facility in Freeport Grand Bahamas, a JV with other shareholders.

With the cruise industry experiencing tremendous global growth, Israel and Dr. Lawrence Miller co- authored Dictionary of the Cruise Industry [London, 1999] which helped define industry terms and processes. Israel is a frequent speaker at cruise industry global conferences and has spoken at many academic institutes including Cambridge University and Oxford University, The Nuremburg Technical University in Germany, the Maritime University in China and many others. Mr. Israel is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. The Chairman of the Global Port Committee of CLIA and servs in other capacities in industry and business associations.
