Anthony Esparza is Chief of Guest Experiences at Carnival Cruise Line, bringing a successful history of leadership in guest experience development within the cruise line, theme park, and travel and tourism industries. From attractions and resorts, to digital media and entertainment, Esparza’s expertise within these fields help build relationships with a wide variety of guestsegments.
As Chief of Guest Experiences, Esparza works side by side with internal business leaders to create fun and innovative guest experiences on newbuild, port, and private island destinations.Carnival Cruise Line is known for fun, but is amping up capabilities with a focus on innovating new kinds of memorable experiences. Esparza is developing systems to identify guest trends and interests, build teams to envision world-class attractions and master plans, and design end-to-end experiences for Carnival’s future. It all starts with bringing brands and stories to life with a clear, marketable message that’s appealing to guests.
Esparza is an award-winning leader of business-driven guest experiences for theme parks, resorts, and shopping destinations as well. Prior to Carnival, he was Chief Creative Officer for SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, where he led their attraction “turnaround team” to reposition their brand and guest experience plans. Previously Esparza led the creative teams at HerschendFamily Entertainment, America’s largest family-owned theme park company, Paramount Parks’ design and entertainment group for media giant Viacom, and world-class leisure venues such as Caesar’s Forum Shops, Star Trek: The Experience, Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Nickelodeon Central, Tomb Raider: The Ride, Sesame Street at SeaWorld, Dolly Parton’s DreamMore Resort, and more.
He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design.
Esparza sits on the Urban Land Institute Entertainment Development Council and is a founding member of TEA (Themed Entertainment Association), previously serving on its International Board of Directors. He is also a member and convention event speaker for IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions). He enjoys photography, football and sandcastle building with his family.
