Jean-Louis CambertCIOPonant

After more than 10 years in various digital services companies, including some of the most important in France like THOMSON or SEMA GROUP (now part of ATOS ORIGIN), I obtain my first experience as C.I.O. in the European subsidiary of an international freight forwarding company (Eagle Global Logistic now part of CEVA Logistics).

After 7 years of different positions in EGL Group, from C.I.O of a Maritime Freight subsidiary to South EMEA IT Director, I joined CMA CGM in 2005 as Business Process Manager for all activities directly linked to the ships. In charge of analysis of all business requirements for Technical, Crewing, Purchasing and Chartering Departments in the subsidiary CMA SHIPS, I have been the interface with the IT Department to develop and deploy all new systems on shore & on board.

I left the container’s world for the cruise world end of 2011, joining PONANT as C.I.O. to prepare and realize IT separation when PONANT’s left the CMA CGM group.

In the height last years, PONANT became a very important actor in the luxury cruise market. I had to succeed in design of an IT architecture which allow PONANT to increase his fleet for 5 to 11 units now, 12 since the recent acquisition of Paul Gauguin Cruise and, in 2021, 15 units (and more …). In parallel we are obliged to continue to deliver the same quality of service despite a number of passengers which jumped from 20 000 to 80 000. In this challenge, digitalization of ships & cruises must take a major place.
