When a new port is added to a cruise line’s itinerary, the only chorus of excitement comes from the line’s Marketing Department. They love a new story to tell yet it’s the challenge for so many to ensure that new destination tale ends with a “happily ever after”.

With the focus on sustainable tourism widening exponentially, how do we make this work? What are the keys to happy guests, revenue for all the players, a supportive (and maybe even engaged) local community, and a destination that delivers? How do the stakeholders navigate through the sea of obstacles ahead of a maiden call, given the risks involved? Operations and revenue issues aside, we need to understand how to prepare our travel partners to effectively sell cruises with ports their clients have never heard of. Symbiosis within the entire cruise community is the ticket to these new destinations and our panel shares their perspectives on how we get there.
