World Cruise Tourism Summit
During this 3-part session, our experts will explore the latest development in geopolitics impacting itineraries, tactical ways to raise your port rating and the latest innovations in port operations and development.
Part I – The Current State of Geopolitics and the Future Impact on Destination and Itinerary Planning 1:30pm-1:55pm
It takes over 28 fully laden Boeing 737-800 aircraft to fill an Oasis class ship. The importance of airlift to the growth of the cruise industry has never been more important and volatility of air travel trends has never been greater. In 2017, there were a number of significant events that shaped the global travel industry we are in today; such as President Trump’s travel ban in the US, The Catalan referendum in Barcelona, terrorist attacks throughout Europe, and the North Korea threat in Asia.
This session will shed light on the far reaching effects of these external events on global air travel trends to, from and within the world’s major cruise locations and will highlight the geo-political events happening right now which are directly impacting travel throughout the world. We will evaluate which cruise destinations have made gains whilst other destinations have suffered.
Speaker: Laurens van den Oever, CMO, ForwardKeys
